The Abia State branch of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in crisis, the worshippers on Saturday, sealed off the Seventh Day Adventist Church Abia North Conference at Umuoriehi, in Umuahia North Local Government Area, over leadership crisis rocking the headquarters.

The church leaders sent the worshippers out of the church premises and locked the gate with a padlock immediately after Saturday’s service.

They displayed placards with different inscriptions at the gate, such as “Sealed,” “End of an era,” and “We pray for a new era of unity, peace, mission-mindedness and genuine spirituality,” among others.

Speaking with newsmen, Mr. Godson Chukwuocha, Leader, Umuahia/Ubakala/Umunneochi Zone, said they were putting an end to the leadership crisis that had lingered at the church headquarters for the past four years.

Chukwuocha said that the members were assembled from the 17 districts that make up the Conference.

He said that the church decided to pass “a vote of no confidence” on Pastor Enyinnaya Uguru with his executive and asked them to leave office because their tenure had expired.

Chukwuocha said that Uguru and his executive had been occupying the position for the past 12 years and had refused to leave, as against the church policy of four-year tenure.

He explained that their tenure expired since February, but the Union, which is the superior to the Conference, extended it to August after the plea by Uguru and his executive.

“The Union again extended it and expected them to organise another election and hand over to a new executive between Sept. 21 and Sept. 23, but they refused,” he said.

Also, Mr. Iroabuchi Alozie, the Secretary, Umuahia/Ubakala/Umunneochi Zone, said that the church has a policy document that stipulates a four-year tenure.

According to him, yesterday (Saturday) is supposed to have been the swearing-in of the new executive.

“But because we are men and women of integrity, we will not watch impunity continue in the Church of God.

“This is the fourth year we are into this crisis and we cannot continue like this. We want to stop it now,” said Alozie, who is also the Secretary, Umuahia District.

The District Leader, Adventist Women Ministry, Mrs. Priscilla Ogidi, said the women had pleaded with Uguru and his executive to leave the office for peace to reign but they refused.

A pastor In Umuahia District, Festus Uzochukwu, expressed displeasure over the leadership crisis, saying “this is God’s church and there’s no battle anybody can fight for God.”

He said that the people decided to come out to put an end to it.

Mr. Eberechi Uwaoma, the Assistant Secretary of the youth wing in the district, said that the church hierarchy was aware of the crisis and had ordered Uguru and his executive to vacate but they didn’t.

“We are not locking our members out, rather we want Pastor Uguru and his team to keep off so that we can have our new leadership, people that can lead with the fear of God,” he said.

Uguru or any of his executive could not be reached for comment in spite attempts by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) as they were said to have left their residences in the church premises before the service.

The Suspended RCCG Pastor, Pastor Ayorinde AdeBello has open up on the allegations of him involvement having Sex with male teenagers.
AdeBello responded to the allegations on Instagram, denying involvement in any acts of sodomy. “I never engaged in sodomy with male teenagers,” he wrote, asserting that his previous silence on the matter had been misinterpreted as a sign of guilt.

He claimed that his comments in a WhatsApp conversation, which went viral, were taken out of context.

The pastor clarified that the discussion in question focused on issues of male reproductive health and self-esteem within a teenage WhatsApp group, which he insists was misconstrued.

“In the past few days, some allegations were made against me and some others via a blog on social media known as Gist Lover,” the statement reads.

“I had wanted to respond immediately it was brought to my attention, but I was advised not to, as I was not the only one named, and all of us may have been mentioned to drive engagement on the blog.

“However, as these allegations have escalated to criminal claims, I am compelled to respond as my prolonged silence has been misconstrued as an admission of guilt.

“I have NEVER demanded for sex from any male as payment or gratification in order to give them assistance, platforms or positions. God is the only King Maker, the only One who can raise and erase kings, give positions and platforms.

“I have NEVER had sex with (*) or proposed sex to him for any reason.

“The questions in the screenshot were asked during a conversation in a male teenagers WhatsApp group where discussions regarding Male Reproductive Health and Self Esteem took place.

“The teenagers were taught about the right hygiene for reproductive health, the right kind of underwear to buy, and that the girth and length determines the underwear size. I also explained that their sizes should not affect their self-esteem and that they are perfectly and uniquely created by God.

“It is disheartening to see that the screenshot message has now been mischievously quoted out of context to portray me as someone who has sex with male teenagers.”

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) announced the suspension of Pastor Ayorinde AdeBello following allegations of homosexuality.

The suspension, which also includes another pastor, was communicated through an official memo dated October 28, 2024, signed by the RCCG’s national overseer, Pastor Sunday Akande.

According to the memo, the RCCG has initiated a thorough investigation into the allegations against AdeBello and the second pastor, temporarily relieving both individuals of their responsibilities within the church.

Akande underscored that the RCCG strictly upholds biblical teachings, which, he stated, do not permit any form of homosexuality.

Rev Abayomi Kasali, the founder and Senior Pastor the Foundation of Truth Assembly, has challenged the prosperity preachers men of God to show him a passage in the holy book where Jesus preach prosperity and acquisition of wealth.

Pastor Kasali stated this during an interview in a podcast session that bother on the prosperity message.

According to him Jesus at no point preached the acquisition of wealth while insisting that material acquisition has nothing to do with the gospel of Christ “Prosperity gospel has nothing to do with the gospel of Christ,” Rev Kasali stated while explaining himself in the interview.

He said after closely examining the bible, especially the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, he has not found any indication in the preaching of Jesus that he was in favour of material gains. “Jesus never spoke about the accumulation of wealth or gaining material things. Rather He cautioned against the vice of greed,”

Quoting Jesus’statement, he said, “Take heed and beware of covetousness for a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things that he has”. No man can serve two masters for he will hate the one, and love the other.

Kasali who was quite forceful in his delivery said there is nowhere Jesus spoke positively about material acquisition while also describing the prosperity message as prosperity jargon. “Jesus told the people that instead of Gathering

More, and more, it was preferable to part with what one has. Jesus did not go to the cross because of naira and dollars. I insist that Jesus did not speak acquisition, he spoke disposition. We don’t measure a man’s life with the things he has. Greed and God cannot work together.

Referring to those who preach material prosperity, he said, “You just rubbished the most significant aspect of our faith, the blood and body of our Lord Jesus Christ”
